My cat willow

Have you had a pet that you really loved? Maybe you loved having a cat and would stroke her each evening on your lap in the lounge, or maybe you would love chatting with a pet bird or parrot, or maybe you really enjoy spending time playing fetch with your dog.

My cat willow was a grey cat with black and white stripes,.like a zebra. I can remember when she came into my room and woke me up in the morning by biting my toes. She would always sit on my lap when I was watching T.V. Sometimes she even came in the bath with me. She would always get into catfights. I just loved her to bits. But not all good things last forever.

It was a hot summer's day in the afternoon. I was at my rickety old house with an overgrown garden with mum with her hair newly dyed and me with my long blond knotty hair. I was sitting on the couch being lazy, watching T.V and eating a bag of chips minding my business, Then I heard willow wail in pain.

I was sure that she was just in a cat fight. Mum dashed to the door to see what happened. Although I was still watching T.V, I looked out of the window and I saw mum was on her knees and crying. What had happened? I feared the worst. I came outside to see what had happened. Then I saw Willow lying,  dead, on the ground, hit by a car. I was so shocked that I couldn't breathe. Mum tried to calm me down but I wouldn't.

After I calmed down a bit I said to mum “Can we dig a grave for her?”
Mum said “sure”  with still tears in her eyes. So mum asked my good friends and neighbours Polly and Tom if they would like to do the honors and Polly said “Ok”. So she got the shovel and started to dig.

Once she had dug a little hole, I softly laid willow down in the hole with tears in my eyes. When Polly laid the top layer of dirt my eyes bulged out I just felt like digging the dirt up and hugging willow. A few minutes later I was still thinking about my cat, having flashbacks - good and bad ones.  Her sitting on my lap, purring, in bed with me, biting my toes.  Then one good thought came to me.

At least this garden will always remind us of Willow, even when we move out, the memories will always be there. So if you have a pet that you love, make sure you make the most of your time with them. Take lots of photos, and remember that they will always be close to you, even if they are just  memories. Till this day I can always remember my lovely cat willow.
